CITY HALL

Private Events and Parties in Chicago

Event Space

The City Hall event space has a separate grand entrance on Kinzie Street, opening into the expansive, industrial elegance of the venue. Skylights run the length of the building and bathe the space in natural light, accentuating the intricate iron trusses and exposed brick original to the structure. The open hall brings in classical and neoclassical design elements that emulate those of historic city halls in Chicago and across America. Refined finishes such as laser-cut art deco steel panels and a 40-foot marble bar flanked by fluted columns dazzle, while a newly built brick second floor, complete with bridal suite, overlooks the space.

Interior Design

The interiors of City Hall stay true to the building’s pre-1920 roots. Most of the original brick remains in the column-free event hall, as do the detailed truss ceiling and 20-foot clerestory windows. The building’s industrial character is preserved with touch points inspired by historic municipal buildings, while classic details and finishes, including custom chandeliers, enhance the space’s timeless aesthetic.
In the Recess bar next door, retractable glass-paneled garage doors open directly onto the patio. Awash in natural light, the dining room is anchored by a 40-foot wooden bar that feels like it’s been there forever—or at least as long as the Daleys were in office. Leather chairs, bar stools and tufted couches add to the casual ambiance. Beautiful, well-appointed bathrooms, a hallmark of Atomic Hospitality’s venues, are featured in both the event hall and restaurant.
